“Mots dans des images” – Putting words into Pictures.
September 14, 2009Mots dans des images – (Words within Pictures) is a series of pictures I had planned to do for quite a while now. I think the idea buzzed in and out of my head from early December’08 – but thanks to the daily doses of exam pressure and other family businesses – I had to keep putting it off. I wanted to do it like a 365 – one picture a day, but as what usually happens with me – the confidence rarely tags along with the idea.
So then after my exams ended, I took upon to at least trying to approach this series with some of my old pictures ( as my camera died mid-March ) so as to keep some of my photographic abilities alive inside of me.
Digging out these pictures, post-processing them so that they could be in the same environment as the meaning of the words that are to be put along in them was quite a feat I tell you. Most of the lines used in the pictures were taken from some very favorite songs of mine which have had inspired me in many healthy and unhealthy ways. Some of the pictures were dug out just to portray those songs ! So that should explain how much of a crazy music freak I am.
Songs used were -
Somewhere a Clock is ticking – Snow Patrol
Voice – Pentagram
Distance – Neverending White Lights ft. Aqualung
Warm Whispers – Missy Higgins
Get Up – Barcelona
Broken – Lifehouse
Carnival of Rust – Poets of the Fall
The Good Kind – The Wreckers
Paimona – Zeb & Haniya
Saari Raat – Noori
Chal Diye – Zeb & Haniya Ft. Javed Bashir
Strange & Beautiful – Aqualung
Jo Meray – Noori
Khamaj – Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan
Where the Road meets the Sun – Katie Herzig and Matthew Perryman Jones
I Remember – Damien Rice ft. Lisa Hannigan
The Last day of your Life – Glass Pear
( Woah. Now that’s a lot of songs I used. Honestly I didn’t figure the list when I was editing. )
Some of these beauties became my absolute favorites. These included some which I had ignored for more than a year or so. Lesson learned was – never ignore what you click and create.
So as I have ended the series and finally uploaded the last picture upto my Flickr, I have also uploaded all of these ( ok not all, I left one or two aside. ) to my RedBubble and put them up for sale.
Mots dan des images on RedBubble.
So if you liked one, and want to put them up on your wall or somewhat and can afford – head over to my Bubble and buy a print or two. ( Do not be freaked out by the prices, I get only 40% of the total price. )
In conclusion, I have to say I am pretty hyped that I was able to finish this series. This series has been very *soul – happy – making*. I got to learn a lot, understand a lot and perceive a lot of beauty in a lot of mess.
Hopefully, you understood all the crap as well.
Peace.
